Calliandra surinamensis Benth. Leaves are used as an ingredient for a medicine against an eye sickness. The leaves and stem contain an unknown alkaloid and other Phytoconstituents. The pungent roots of C. surinamensis are purgative. Plant derived drugs have been an important part of the evolution of human, healthcare for thousands of years.
